For most trades, a single new roof, boiler, rewire or driveway is worth far more than the cost of a website. A good website doesn't need to bring in hundreds of leads. It needs to bring in the right ones: people in your area, looking for the work you do, ready to pick up the phone.

Directories and social media are useful, but you don't own them. You're listed next to your competitors, leads are often shared, and the rules can change at any time. • Photos of real jobs: before-and-afters build trust better than anything
• Reviews and accreditations, such as Gas Safe, NICEIC or TrustMark, if you have them
• A simple quote form that asks the right questions
• Fast loading, because customers with a leaking pipe won't wait
